Jake's nomination story

Jake is my 12 year old son, although he always tried his best, during the first 12 years of his life his best has never been quite good enough to make into the primary school football or rugby teams or the local amateur football team. Always being left out of the team, or on the subs bench or getting to play for the last 2 minutes when the team is already being beaten. The local amateur team after telling him on the first night back to practice in September that he wasn't good enough for the team, are now telling him he is improving, but are they picking him for the team yet, no he's now being told that if some of the 'team' start missing practice then maybe he'll get a place - encouragement, not much!! The continuous knock backs would have put any other young person off trying again, but try again is what Jake always does. He has now just completed his first year in high school, Jake has attended all after school football and rugby classes in the hope to make it into the high school teams, he got picked for 1 football match, and was more successful at rugby, going to a handful of games. It would be lovely if just once Jake got picked for something first, it would be something he could be proud off and to hold his head high. Please consider him for a Torchbearer in Northern Ireland, it would be a lovely achievement that he could cherish. Thanks Tracy Boyd
