Jade Etherington is a partially sighted student of Geography and Education at Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln (BG), and she is an inspiration to us all. Jade has been a gym member at BG for two years and always shows great drive and enthusiasm. She recently won a gold and three silver medals in the Paralympic World Cup. At the Swiss Nationals she won silver in Giant Slalom and Bronze in Slalom. Her ambition is to qualify for the 2014 Paralympics in Russia.. Her 'can do' approach to life also includes taking a full part in her degree on campus and in challenging fieldwork locations. She always asks "What can I do that stretches me further?" Her infectious enthusiasm and zest for life has inspired fellow students to look at life more positively and to make the most of what it can offer. We think she would be an excellent choice as a torchbearer. (John Halocha: Reader in Geography Education; Academic Co-ordinator for Geography) (Gareth Wilson: Sport & Fitness Centre Manager)
