Jade's nomination story

Jade Brede was hit by a car on her fifteenth birthday, sustaining serious brain injuries and was not expected to live. Overcoming all the odds, Jade survived her trauma and went to The Children's Trust for rehabilitation where she learned to adjust to living with a brain injury and regained skills she had lost in her accident. Jade did not let her disability hold her back but went on to gain a university degree so that she could fulfil her dream of working in a primary school. She is a determined fundraiser for the Trust and her impressive efforts include a jungle trek in Panama and completing the London Marathon which she ran with her husband. Jade also supports young people who have not had such a successful recovery as her own through her work with the Council for Disabled Children's Steering Group, of which she is a member.
