When Jackie was diagnosed with high blood pressure in 2009, she stopped smoking and started to improve her lifestyle. She's been trying to carve her career in the NHS which means working long hours. Exercise has always come second place because of family & work. Last year she was told she needed additional blood pressure medication. When she tested her fitness it was poor so she set about reducing her weight & increasing her fitness. She joined an exercise class, built a gym room at home and joined the hospital Touch rugby team. Despite being the eldest team member she continued and was proud to be in the team who reached the semi finals this year. Exercise is now part of her life, her blood pressure & cholesterol are now better controlled, she's lost 1 stone in weight and is committed to losing another 2 stone over the next year.
