I would like to nominate Jackie Nicol for her sporting activities and fundraising. Jackie had a friend who lost the battle against cancer but she was impressed by the support that was given by the Oaks Palliative Care day Centre in Forres which provides care in Morayshire for people who have progressive terminal illnesses. Jackie decided to support them by raising funds by competing in the London and Edinburgh Marathons for the last couple of years.
As well as being dedicated to these Marathons and fund raising, she is also a coach for the Forres Harriers juniors which is a local youth running team. Her support is recognised locally in Morayshire and her fundraising helped the day centre. Children at the Forres harriers see her as a great influence and Coach, while events such as the Dyke run and Junior Jog appreciate the help that she has offered.
Jackie is extremely generous with her time and always has a project on the go she is extremely grateful for the support that was given to her friend whilst at the Oaks centre and this has inspired her to raise as much funds as possible. She is a role model to the local children at Forres and her own personal achievements at running have been great. As well as her commitment out of work, her enthusiasm is brought into the work place as she always strives to exceed in anything she applies herself to. I think as well as her fund raising, we should recognise the amount of time she devotes to others on a voluntary basis.
