Jack is a solider for the British Army serving with the 2 Rifles. In September 2009 he was on patrol in Afghanistan when an IED (improvised explosive device) was detonated by the Taliban. Jack lost both his legs and his left arm. The explosion almost killed him, and if it weren`t for the incredible speed with which he was evacuated to hospital, he would surely have died. At the time he was only the fifth surviving triple amputee in the UK. Currently wheelchair bound, he has undergone several operations to repair the damage sustained in the explosion. Whilst in Selly Oak Hospital he contracted pneumonia and has also had to overcome several cases of infection. Unfortunately, nearly 2 years on, he is still fighting these infections and has to undergo yet more surgery and further amputations. With every set back he is forced to start his rehab all over again. Despite everything that has happened, Jack continues to look forward. Even with bandages to his legs and painful infections, he recently completed a tandem sky-dive raising nearly £2000 for charity. Somehow he manages to maintain his sense of humour and his almost addictive personality. The way he conducts himself is an inspiration to those who know him, and even to those who don`t.
