Jack's nomination story

Jack is a kind caring 14 year old who was a runner up in the Welsh Volunteer of the Year award in 2010, Jack's sister was diagonised with Type 1 Diabetes 9 years ago since this time he has raised funds and raised awareness of the condition through JDRF Juvenille Research Foundation and become a T1 Ambassador for the charity. Jack has done various volunteering work with a local charity Presteigne & Norton Community Support helping fundraise, coffee mornings and administration duties. Jack is a pupil of John Beddoes High School who takes an active part in school life and activities he is a member of the School Nutrician Action Group who ty to improve the quality of school meals Jamie Oliver eat your heart out!!, Global Gardeners which is a local and international group which works with its partner in Gambia to learn children about substanbility. Jack sits on pupil panels to interview new members of teaching staff and is a valuable member of the school. Jack is involved with Powys Youth Forum which is an advisory group to local goverment and organisations which involve partenership with young people this a commitment of on average 3 residential days per term usually in the holidays. Jack has visited special schools in the county to discuss the Youth Forum work and to take their views forward to goverment. I think Jack would make an excellent choice to be a torch bearer as he puts others before himself tirelessly giving to others which shows strengh of charaacter.
