Jack's nomination story

Jack has spent a great deal of his life helping people. He worked for the Local Council for almost 40 years and latterly acted as the Council's Pastoral Care Officer helping employees who were often suffering from severe ill health or assisting families following their death. For about 35 years, Jack has been a football llinesman, referee, coach and mentor. He has trained many hundreds of volunteers to act as refs some of whom have gone on to the premiere league ,but most run around the local park on saturdays and sundays with youth teams and local sports clubs at a truely grass roots level. He has just received a long service award from the Football Association for 40 years service to refereeing and was given a Civic Award , The Wirral Award, by Wirral Council in 2001 for his services to the community. Jack has also been a member of the Wirral Youth Justice Panel. He is very involed in his local neighbourhood helping anyone he can and is particularly involved with his local church luncheon club for older people, giving lifts, serving, cooking and washing up! Jack is simply one of lifes good guys who people turn to when they need help and is always there for them.
