Jack Andrew, a WW2 veteran in his 92nd year, has been passionate about local sport in Sheffield all his life. Cycling since the age of 16, he has received a Lifetime Member Award from the Cycling Touring Club. In football he was player/secretary of Sheffield Oak St Football Club from 1937-50, played for the Guards Brigade in the army and as a local teacher coached boys in football and cricket, holding F.A. and Yorkshire C.C. coaching awards. He was captain of Sheffield Education Authority cricket team for 10 years. As a golfer for over 50 years, he had a handicap of 8 and can still manage the occasional few holes despite having both knees replaced. His example shows how sport and a healthy lifestyle lead to self-fulfilment, enhance mental and physical well-being and provide great inspiration to others. Jack is a wonderful person and an outstanding role model for all generations.
