Ivan Calder

I work as Head of healthcare at Feltham Young Offenders Institute. I enable approx. 5000 young people (15-21) to choose a healthy lifestyle.I work hard to support the Offender community to make positive choices about their future. For example young men leave my care understanding how to manage (where relevant) acne asthma anger testicular self examination and their libido's. In the future I hope to set up a heath and well being radio channel at Feltham which will be delivered by the young people. This will run alongside the current programme which supports young people to access education training and employment (many for the first time) and a full health screening. I hope to develop a peer education programme so that young people are empowered through understanding their bodies. Above all I want to celebrate the work of my team in partnership with the young people!
