Isobel Mcnulty

I wish to nominate my Mum to be an Olympic Torch Bearer. I think she is an extraordinary person who, for over thirty years, has been teaching Physical Education at St. Cecilia's College, Derry. She has been inspiring and motivating pupils throughout this time, I can attest to this as I have had many people say to me that she was/is a wonderful teacher. She has spent many hours, at work and personal time, to ensure her pupils get the best results. This includes accompanying them to numerous athletic and netball events. She has also recently become District C Secretary for School Athletics. This has meant helping to organise and plan athletic events for many schools in Northern Ireland. Outside of school my Mum teaches younger children to swim, she volunteers on a Saturday morning at our local swimming pool. This has meant giving up a morning off after working forty plus hours during the week, but this only proves her dedication and spirit even more. Our local leisure centre also provides her with gym, spinning, yoga and swimming which she attends every evening during the week. This is an inspiration to anyone who maintains they have no time to keep fit and healthy. She has also been coaching netball to groups of adults during the week voluntarily, which is another example of her contribution to our community. My Mum deserves this honour due to her dedication and love of sport, I know she would be proud to become a part of Olympic history and shine in her moment.
