Imran is one of only two Olympic Gold Medal winners to come from Stoke-on-Trent and remains an inspirational figure in the city for his outstanding sporting achievements and coaching contributions. He was a newsagent in his home city when he enjoyed his finest sporting moment - scoring two goals in Great Britain's 3-2 win over West germany in the final of the Men's Hockey at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Imran was capped 45 times for Britain and 49 for England. As a coach Imran inspires hundreds of young people every week and has worked tirelessly for his local hockey club, bringing it from the lower divisions to national league status. Imran gives up his time to inspire and motivate others through school visits and guest appearances. A former winner, the 49-year-old father of two is a member of the judging panel of the City of Stoke-on-Trent Sports Personality of the Year Awards.
