Ian's nomination story

Ian is an ex-colleague who had to take early ill-health retirement from the company in 2009 after being diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour.

Ian has worked tirelessly since then raising money for Andrea's Gift, a charity that looks after children and adults suffering from brain tumours in West Yorkshire. In 2010, Ian organised the Meaks Peaks (national 3 peaks) challenge and over 50 friends/work colleagues/family took part to raise money. In 2011, Ian organised a 200 mile bike ride from Bristol to Bradford and again a group of 37 friends/work colleagues/family took part.

Ian is currently organising another 200 mile bike ride for 3rd/4th June 2012 touring Yorkshire Breweries and finishing back at John Smith's Brewery, where he used to work in the Brewing Department. Ian also plans to cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats next year.

Even while undergoing chemotherapy Ian manages to organise charity events and train regularly. He is a truly inspirational.
