Corporal Ian Bishop (Bish) serves with 46 Commando Regt and was injured over two years ago in Afghanistan. He was the first guest at SSAFA Forces Help's Norton House in Selly Oak and lost both his legs in the blast. Ian spends a lot of his time chatting to others injured personnel to make them realise that life is worth living. Despite his injuries, Ian has learned how to walk again and is now part of the Great Britain Ski team and hopes to compete in the 2014 winter Paralympics. He continues to visit Headley Court and stays at Norton House. Ian is great to have around. He shows others what can be achieved. This man lives life to the full. There are many stories about Bish, but the best thing about him is that he gives back, always there for the lads to talk to a give advice. Many of the lads who struggle have been given the right words of encouragement from Bish, he tells it as it is, that's what the lads know and understand, and they know Bish has been through it!I served with 45 Commando, Royal Marines
