Paul combines his love of running with his fundraising activities, which have become a regular feature of his weekends. Originally he ran to raise funds for Chase children's charity which his father set up following the death of Paul's younger sister. However, the more people Paul meets, the more he feels inspired to keep doing what he can do, however small, to help those less fortunate than himself.
Paul generally runs for charities supporting the welfare of children or cancer charities. This has included competing in the Great North Run, Great South Run, the London Marathon, the New York Marathon, the Marathon des Sable, the London Duathlon, the London Ultra Duathlon, the Royal London Half Parks Half Marathon, Run to the Beat Half Marathon, Reading Half Marathon and Bath Half Marathon. On top of this he also runs in local 10K and half marathons during the year.
Other fund raising activities have included trekking to Base Camp on Mount Everest, climbing a volcano in Bolivia, climbing Mount Kinabalu in Borneo and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania whilst on Honeymoon!
Over the years Paul has raised thousands of pounds for charity - running in the Marathon des Sable he raised over £10,000 alone for a charity called Facing Africa which helps children suffering from a terrible facial disease called NOMA.
Next year is a big year for Paul and he has already signed up for the Bath Half Marathon, Maxifuel Half Marathon, London Marathon, Comrades Race in South Africa and London Ultra Duathlon. CR
