Hui Zhou

Zhou Hui, a 22-year-old girl, is the winner of Coca-Cola Save a Barrel of Water campaign which is one of the most influential water stewardship progr ame. She is now the president of the Students Green Association of Tsinghua University (TUSGA). TUSGA was founded in 1995. It advocates China's environmental protection activities through the students' unimaginable strength.

This summer, Zhou Hui established a green team in my association, participating in the the Coca-Cola Water-saving Practice: Save a Barrel of Water. Zhou Hui went to Beijing traditional quadrangle courtyard, by making field measurement several times, she proposed a solar-powered drip irrigation rehabilitation program for community plants irrigation, the program which is to collect rainwater as an alternative source of drinking water, and replace the original way of irrigating each plant to careful irrigation towards root segments. Prediction given by Beijing water experts claimed that the water demand per plant decreased by 30% -50%, and because during the seasons summer and fall when plants tend to be eugonic the irrigation water mainly comes from collecting raindrops, the effect of water saving is great. Eventually, the green team won the Best Project Award among 100 teams, and Zhou Hui stood out among the 10 best candidates to win from the 10 best teams by her excellent comprehensive quality.

Apart from the daily professional studying in environmental knowledge, Zhou organized and participated in the "Prince of Denmark Tsinghua Low-carbon Bike-riding" activity and planned and attended the International Youth Energy Resource and Climate Change forum. For four consecutive years, she has participated in school-wide renewable, recycling, environmental protection propagation and tree-planting activities. In September 2011, she became one of China's four representatives to participate in the Indonesia UNEP Global Youth and Children Environmental Forum, and was elected one of the world's top youth
