Hugh Merrell

Hugh is a very hardworking, polite and enthusiastic pupil. He has a real determination to succeed and gets on with things without making a fuss. Hugh loves sport and plays to a high standard both in and out of school for basketball and football. He gets on well with everyone, and shows great respect for his sport and fellow players. When he smiles, he can light up the room. Hugh is the perfect candidate to represent the school as an Olympic Torch Bearer. He would not only be doing this for himself but also for his family. Hugh and his older sister have achieved and maintained normal school life whilst supporting their brother through his fight and on-going treatment of cancer. This has shown the strength and determination of his character to try to maintain a normal life during this difficult time. This takes courage of someone so young. He truly is an inspiration to his peers.
