The West Of Scotland Football Club for the Physically Disabled was formed in 1999. Helen Ann has supported the club in various ways since its formation, such as keeping the charity's accounts in order for submission to the OSCR. In 2010 she was voted onto the committee and fulfils the roles of secretary and treasurer. She has helped to raise funds for the club by arranging several charitable activities, such as a sponsored walk from Ibrox Stadium (home of Rangers FC) to Celtic Park (home of Celtic FC) entitled Bridging The Gap Through Disability .
She has also arranged numerous social events to coincide with the team's home games, where the players can mix socially with teams who travel to play the team. These events, as well as the annual Christmas party and yearly Player Of The Year function (also arranged by Helen Ann) give the players a chance to mix with others, as a lot of the players are socially isolated or do not have a wide social network. She regularly travels to support the team (both in the volunteer and footballing sense) when they play throughout the British Isles. There are other football teams in Scotland that supply football for players with learning disabilities, however none which are just physically disabled. The team therefore have to travel to England/Ireland to have competitive games. Over the years, Helen Ann has arranged bus hire/train tickets/flight tickets and hotels for the team.
