Maragret would like to nominate Helen Fairhurst as a representative of Yorkshire in the Olypmic Torch Relay. From being a small child she has involved herself in charitable events, both as a voluntary helper and fundraiser .She trained for the St. John's Ambulance. At 15 recieved the carer of the year award for prompt action dealing with a fellow pupils collapse and she went to Buckingham Palace to recieve the reward. She has ran Birmingham Marathon Ladies Challenge , London Marathon twice for the diabetics society, Sheffield Half Marathon for the Childrens Hospital Cancer Unit in memory of a friend , she has absailed at BRI for the Marie Curie appeal. Also helped raise £15,000 for 'Alfies Team' (on behalf of a young child) which hiked to morocco with the three others for a childrens school in Africa. Also took part in 'le jog' bicycle effort; members of helens family Land's End to John O'Groats for Zoe's Baby hospice . At present she works as fundraiser for the Birmingham Baby Hospice . I recently began working as a Capital Appeal Fundraiser for Marie Curie Hospice Solihull and will help to raise £7 million in 2 years to build a new hospice.
