Helen's nomination story

Helen for her absolute dedication, hard work and tireless commitment to distance running. Training 100 miles a week in all weathers. Helen gave up her job to concentrate on her running career, giving her all to represent England which she has successfully done internationally. She is inspirational to young and new athletes at her running club, Ipswich JAFFA and to local school children by her frequent school visits and talks about healthy active lifestyles. Selected for England at the Commonwealth Games Marathon in New Delhi, 2010. Selected for Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the European Championships Marathon in Barcelona 2010 winning bronze. Selected for Team England in the International Challenge at the Toronto Marathon 2008 and 2009; the first athlete to receive the invite twice. 3rd and 4th British lady London Marathon 2010 and 2011. 12 personal best times and club records over 7 distances from 5km to marathon. Helen has been chosen by Suffolk County Council's partner CSD as their adopted athlete, by way of the Suffolk Sports Aid Foundation through the Destination Gold initiative for London 2012. Team Ipswich Sports Personality of the Year 2010. Suffolk Sport Sports Personality of the Year runner-up 2010.
