Hattie's nomination story

Harriet fell ill at the age of 8 after being and abled bodied and sporty youngster. She did swimming and gained achievement awards twice from Duncan Goodhew. She was competing in this sport when she fell ill. Harriet is now disabled and use a wheelchair or walks short distances with sticks. Harriet always wanted to go to the Olympics with her swimming and felt her world had ended. How Harriet is an inspiration to me as her mother and to friends and people around her because rather than give up on her dream she is driving it forward again. Harriet would not give up and pushes herself to the maximum by taking part in wheelchair basketball and wheelchair archery. Both of these diciplines require alot of practice and training and Harriet has to travel to the mainland for most of the training sessions. She hasn't given up despite the doctors not knowing what is wrong with her after 5 years of investigations. I am very proud of her!
