Hannah's nomination story

Hannah Pearce has volunteered tirelessly, helping young children with physical and learning difficulties to become gymnasts. Hannah joined the Guernsey Specials Gym Club when undertaking her Duke of Edinburgh Award at the age of 14 and some 15 years later she is the Head Coach of the Club and gives of her free time teaching disadvantaged children gymnastics, taking them to competitions, arranging and helping with holidays away from the Island which give their parents much needed respite. Hannah works full time and gives up her lunch hour on Thursdays to enable her to leave work early to run the club. She also spends many hours planning and preparing the gym sessions. She arrives early to put out the heavy equipment ready for the first session. Hannah has also given up her holidays for many years to accompany severely disabled children when they were taken to Church Town in Cornwall for an adventure holiday. I believe Hannah is one of Guernsey's true 'unsung heros'. The small Club she runs badly needs more support and publicity and being able to carry the torch for the Club would help to ensure that it continued in the future to bring gymnstic exercise, independance and fun to Guernsey's 'special needs' children.
