Hamish joined Branksome Chine surf life saving club as a nine year old. He has always been a dedicated member. After sustaining a fractured clavicle that required surgery to fit a metal plate on Christmas eve 2008, he had to take a few months off.Once he was allowed to return to training he worked hard to regain his fitness. He represented the club at the British sport life saving championships and gained gold and silver medals. He also qualified as a beach life guard in 2009. He ha subsequently patrolled Poole beaches as a volunteer life guard with the RNLI. For the last year he has been training the nipper section of the club ( 8 to 13 year olds ) on a weekly basis. He is a fantastic role model. He truly inspires and motivates members to 'give their best 'regardless of individuals abilty level. Many of the younger members aspire to emulate his enthusiam for the sport and his commitment to volunteering within the club and to the wider community. Hamish enjoys a wide variety of sports, including rugby where he plays for a local club and his school. He has also represented Dorset schools in the South West atheletics Champs competing in 400m hurdles. However, he is particularly passionate about surf life saving because of the competive sport element, learning vital life saving skills to help others and its great fun training in rough sea !
