Hamish Colgan

Hamish Colgan is a former East of Scotland boxer. Now, in his sixties, he runs the Railway pub in Haddington. Hamish was concerned at the anti social behaviour looming towards East Lothian with a number of young people having nowhere to channel their energy. Hamish began the task of starting a local boxing club. He gained funding and put every hour he had into it. Now, only a year on, East Lothian ABC is a prominent club in the boxing circuit. The police have told them that they have less anti social behaviour on the street and one youth, has changed from a child who was about to be expelled from school, to a prefect in the same school - the teachers put this down to the club and Hamish's influence. The club welcomes people of all ages, genders, backgrounds and ability and Hamish is the driving force. He deserves recognition and I can think of no better way than this. Please choose him!!
