In the summer of 2009, prior to coming to study Architecture at Cardiff University, Guylee travelled to spend a month in Haiti, working with the Haiti Hospital Appeal, to provide a better medical infrastructure in the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere with 80% of the population living below the poverty line. He worked with disabled children in respite care and supported the charity with day to day logistics. Following his visit Guylee continued to involve himself with the charity, writing on their behalf to organisations seeking support, fundraising and writing articles on his experience of Haiti. In the summer of 2010 Guylee decided to spend his whole summer in Haiti, working non-stop as a logistical coordinator on the hospital site as well as travelling south by truck to deliver aid to the refugees in Port au Prince who lost their homes in the terrible earthquake earlier in the year.
