Grainne is an amazing mum and wife who has worked tirelessly to do the best for her family and friends. In her younger years she was a rower winning at women's Henley regatta and the British National Championships. She was unconditionally supportive of me, her husband, in the lead up to the Sydney Olympic games in 2000. She gave birth to our eldest daughter Orla (meaning golden in gaelic) on the 8/8/2000 and travelled to the games in Sydney where she supported the GB rowing team. I was the coach of the men's eight that won gold at the games, and is often the case, those that are supportive of coaches and athletes never quite get the recognition they deserve for their support. This would be a once in a lifetime opportunity for us her family to recognise the support that she has given to us all over the years. Thank you for even giving us the opportunity to make such a request.
