Gordon has been a stalwart volunteer with Volleyball England since 1981. In this time he has undertaken a wide variety of roles with the upmost commitment and enthusiasm. He coached the GB Sitting Volleyball Team from 1984 to 1994 and was instrumental in reforming the team in preparation for the London 2012 Games. Gordon was the first international volleyball referee from GB and has refereed at two Paralympic Games. He has also organized many major national and international events, including the ECVD Continental Cup in Kettering in 2011. Gordon has also been the Vice-President of the World Organization for Disabled Volleyball and is now a co-opted member of Volleyball England Board responsible for disability sport. During this time he has been extremely supportive of new volunteers in the sport. It would be a fantastic recognition of his contribution to sitting volleyball if he was selected to be a Torch Bearer.
