Gordon's nomination story

(These words come from class 3RS at High View Primary Learning Centre who are aged 7-8.) Mr Calvert is an inspiring sport's coach as he always encourages us to have a try at new sports and activities. Even when we are tired or not doing very well, he motivates and persuades us to have another try! Mr Calvert is cool and patient with the children even when they are frustrated and tired! Mr Calvert introduces us to all sorts of different and unusual sports that otherwise we would not have tried! Such as golf, orienteering, basketball, gymnastics, tennis and cricket. Mr Calvert is amazing at sport and inspires us to do well. He also helps us find sport's clubs out of school so that we can join them and take part in even more sports! Mr Calvert gives up his own time to run after school and before school clubs such as ballroom dancing and gymnastics. These clubs help us to stay fit and healthy and are also really fun. In addition to this, Mr Calvert trains us up to enter local competitions- we have won lots and had great fun doing these! We are very proud that Mr Calvert is our sport's coach and would like to say thankyou to him for his hard work and for always doing that little bit extra for us. He is very passionate about sport and we think that carrying the olympic torch would be a great way for us to thank him for everything that he does. We know he would be honoured to do such an amazing thing!
