Goldie's nomination story

Goldie is one of Britain's leading field athletes and a sporting icon after achieving nine back to back national championships for javelin, making her British No.1 for the past eight years. Her first major appearance on the world stage was at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games as the youngest member of the track and field team. Since this time Goldie has consistently remained in the world top ten and she remains a genuine competitor for a medal in London 2012. Goldie is a Director of the British Athletes' Commission, a position she was elected to in 2008 at the Annual Athletes Conference. Her wealth of experience is also utilised in her role as a member of the BOA Athletes' Commission. Goldie was elected in 2010 by her fellow athletes and her expertise provides input to the initiatives and programmes offered by the BOA.
