Gof's nomination story

After decades of caring for other people and diagnosing their illnesses, former GP Gof Fairbairn was diagnosed with prostate cancer just weeks into retirement. Despite debilitating treatment which often left him exhausted, he wanted to raise awareness of men's health and prostate cancer in particular. He trained for the recent British 10K London Run, participating the day before his 61st birthday. He completed the course in just over an hour, raising £2110 for Prostate Action and being their highest fundraiser in this event.
