Giovanni Merlo

President of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) since 2005, Gianni has been a journalist since 1967 having worked for Italy's leading sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport for most of his career. He has attended 19 Olympics - 10 Winter and 9 Summer Games. Gianni has authored a number of sports books and encyclopaedia, the most recent of which was Dream Runner , with Oscar Pistorius. He is a member of the IOC Press Commission and Chairman of the IAAF Press Commission. Gianni is married with a daughter Manuela, and a son Ivan. He lives in Vigevano near the northern Italian city of Milan.
