Gill's nomination story

Gill is an avid athletics fan and once ran for the county (Suffolk) as a schoolgirl. Having reached the ripe old age of 54 she no longer runs but is a very keen walker ( we walked the Coast to Coast last year and raised £1800 for our favourite charity).

As well as working full time Gill works hard for the local Guides group, generating lots of ideas to keep the girls active and interested. Sheis also an active volunteer for the East Anglian Air Ambulance - our favourite charity. Not only does she carry out any assigned duties for the EAAA but she also generates ideas for improvements to fund-raising and has made a marked impact on the fulltime fund-raisers.

Sadly we were not able to get any tickets for the Olympics and work commitments prevent her from applying to be a volunteer.

Gill also happens to be my wife of 28 years and mother to our 24 year-old daughter.

I know that if she was selected to be a torch bearer it would probably be the proudest time of her life and I would be the proudest husband, supported by equally proud daughter and step-children/grandchildren.

Thanks and all best wishes.
