Gill's nomination story

When Gill lost her husband Chris to cancer 5 years ago she was determined not to let herself become introverted or lonely or take the easy option in life. She took up running as one of her new hobbies and found that she excelled at it, she also found it made her 'feel alive'. Over the last four years her running has gone from strength to strength and has completed 3 marathons and qualified for the London Marathon as a 'good for age' athlete. She has now taken up the challenge of Triathlon with increasingly good results. Gill has gone through life thinking of others before herself, starting with her local church as a teenager, then helping the homeless in London. She has worked for Social Housing organisations and has spent the last 10 years working for the charity 'Solent Mind' helping people with mental health issues get back to work. Helping her clients build their confidence back up and teaching them the skills to finding employment. Gill has raised money for charities by jumping out of a plane, with a parachute, something she though she could never do. But her new found determination made her do it. After many years of putting others before herself its about time something was given back to such a caring person and budding athlete. Please make Gill's life complete and give her a torch to run with for 300m or so, I know she can do the distance :-) Chris died about 6 years ago. I first started running so I could run the Race for Life in his honour in 2006, then got hooked on running! I took up triathlon last year and have done a few races so far. Since Feb I've been doing another job for SM
