My daughter Georgia has dyslexia and dyspraxia and has struggled academically but despite her learning difficulties she has been determined to become a runner. Something that she loves to do and makes her feel free. She especially loves fell running as she loves the variety of the course. In all weathers and conditions she has trained. She has competed in many competitions and not always with great success. However this year her training has finally paid off and she has become North Wales Champion in the U17 girls category (despite being only 14). She has gained respect from many of her school friends with her determination to succeed despite her disability. Last year she decided with her younger sisiter to do a sponsored run and swim to raise money for the earthquake in Haiti. They raised over £1000. Later this year they also swam 200 lengths to raise money for the local Hospice. She also came up with the suggestion of donating half her pocket money to sponsor a little girl living in Haiti, which she has done for over 2 years now. I would love for her to carry the olympic torch as a reward for all her hard work and compassion for others who are less fortunate than herself.
