As a school we would like to nominate George Ryley to become a torchbearer to carry the Olympic Torch as it travels around the country. George has overcome the adversity he faced in his early years in the school to flourish into a confident, thoughtful and inspirational young man.
He has demonstrated a determination to succeed in all aspects of his life despite facing learning difficulties and issues with control and frustration which could often lead him astray. George learnt via his participation in sport and physical activity the values of excellence, friendship, courage, determination, inspiration and equality.
George is an excellent all-round sportsman who has excelled in a number of sports, representing the school, town and region. He has demonstrated the essence of fair play and sportsmanship and always tries as hard as he can do both on and off the field of play. George has worked particularly hard in ensuring that the values he learnt and developed via sport were transferred into other aspects of his life.
He has utilised his experiences gained through sport, both working in the local community coaching Primary school children, and also mentoring students who are facing similar challenges that George faced. George would make a fantastic torch bearer for the Olympic Games; a continuation of the work he does to inspire others. CR
