George's nomination story

George has been a strong member of the 63rd Derby (Darley Abbey) Scouts. He has worked hard at all the Scouting activities and been an excellent Patrol Leader. George has been actively involved in all of our fund-raising events and in generating ideas for fundraising. He attended Peak 2010, the International Scout Camp at Chatsworth, where he was presented with his Chief Scout's Gold Award and that is the highest award a Scout can get. A lot of time and effort is put into winning this award. George is representing Derbyshire at the World Scout Jamboree in Sweden this year and for this he has carried out a large amount of fundraising and put in a lot of effort. Also within his Scouting career, George has been involved with a Scouting camping competition, where the troop won all the trophies possible. The troop worked so hard, put in lots of practice and showed dedication to the Scouting way. At the moment George is a member of the Viking Explorer group and is working towards his Duke of Edinburgh bronze award. He also plays basketball for Derby Trailblazers and for the school team at Woodlands. George's other team sport is football and he plays for Chesapeak FC and his school. Finally, George enjoys canoeing and has a 1st star award in instructing. I think that George deserves this wonderful opportunity.
