George's nomination story

George Jacob initiated and founded Jacobs Foundation in the South Indian Village of Thamarachal in 1997. The registered charitable trust is fully financed and chaired by George Jacob. One of activities George donates to is healthcare charities. Unlimited inpatient and outpatient medical assistance to the elderly and needy in and around the village Thamarachal. The members are registered with "Good Samaritan" Hospital run by Sisters of Destitute. All registered members can walk in to the large multi-speciality hospital and any kind of treatment is available and at no cost. The project takes care of over one hundred people who are in the late years of their life giving them worry free medical care. Also George is deeply committed to the role education can play in society. That's why his program of Women Empowerment supports girls from poor families, helping them to achieve higher education. Emphasis is on medical and associated courses as the job opportunities for women are better in this field. Many girls have now completed their studies, are employed in various hospitals and are able to support their entire family. The trust is also engaged in helping the homeless in building houses, loans for small business etc.
