George's nomination story

George Blackshaw, age 12, is a double amputee who lost half his arm and half his leg in an accident as a child. I believe he is an inspiration to others. He wears a leg prosthesis which has allowed him to develop into an extremely talented sportsman, playing football for his school and Cheshire's Disability Development Squad. He excelled at a national initiative to identify multi talented youngsters for Paralympic selection. He was selected for the FA programme in the North West and plays at the highest level he can at 12. His potential to play for the Region at 16 and to move into the England Senior Squad has been identified. In School he never allows his disability to hold him back and it is this attitude which has helped him to develop the talents now being recognised at a County and National level. Sport means so much to him, I nominate him to carry the torch as an example of what can be achieved.
