Geoff Letchford

My husbund Geoff is a fantastic runner. He won the Duchy grand prix series in 2009 for his age group and his times are still improving! Geoff is an UK athletics coach and has trained children at our local athletics club, Mounts Bay Harriers, for the past 8 years, all on a voluntary basis. He also runs an after school athetics club at the local primary school, where he works as caretaker.His lessons are fun and well planned to include children of all abilities and have inspired lots of youngsters to take up running.In January he ran the coast path from st.Ives to Land's End ( on his own!!) to raise money to enable the choir of his school to travel to the millenium stadium in London to take part in the 'voice in a million' event,raising money for an adoption charity. I believe he deserves this nomination for his commitment to sport, the community and his efforts to get children fit ,enjoying sports and off the sofa!I have been a member of HM Coastguard cliff rescue team since 1999 and took part in a round Britain relay run in 2005 with all the Coastguard teams throughout Britain to raise money for the 'Jubilee Sailing Trust'
