Gemma's nomination story

Gemma is a young person who gives up her time every week to make a difference to people in the local community. Gemma is actively involved in a wide range of local projects and groups. Whatever she is involved in she always strives to give her all. Gemma uses her interests and talents to help others. Gemma is a member of Chester Angels Cheerleading organisation and uses her experience to train two groups of young girls aged 4-8 in deprived areas, aiming to give the girls confidence and enjoyment in a physical group activity. Gemma is a member of Scouts and Explorers and assists young children once again by assisting in the running of a local Beaver Colony. Gemma is a member of the Air Training Corps and volunteers her time to help at local and national charity events, she is currently in training for the three peak challenge with the Cadet's and is raising money at local events to take on a Himalayan challenge in August 2012. Gemma is a 'big noise' in the community literally with her bell ringing, and bell rings every Sunday in the local church, she practices on another night in the week and takes part in bell ringing competitions. Gemma studies Hospitality and Catering at West Cheshire College and uses her skills in her involvement in a local church project to get families cooking together called Messy Church. I find Gemma an inspirational young person who gives up her time to benefit others.
