Gayle's nomination story

Support families and particularly children affected with renal and urological problems through fundraising and being a trustee at Alder Hey Children`s Kidney Fund. She plans annual fundraisers for the charity in the form of `Swishing parties`. The fund also pays for games, books and toys for children who are often stuck in hospital for long periods on their own with little stimulation. The fund also supports families who need financial support in relation to the disease for example visits to hospital for transplant and for extra equipment, sheds and home adjustments for dialysis machines and storage of medical supplies that they would otherwise have to do without. To overcome her own emotions towards the situation to help others in worse positions and to enable critical research to continue. Also to think of engaging ways to raise funds and increase awareness of the Kidney fund to those it can help... Her son Louis, now 18 months who although he has kidney failure and must sometimes feel a bit rubbish is such a bright, happy and resilient baby. Also the other children affected by this who have to go through some uncomfortable and difficult procedures and put up with more than they should have to on a daily basis deserve whatever she can give to make their lives a little easier.
