Gary Johnson has not only set up his own registered charity (www.theplaybarnproject.co.uk) but has also raised over £200,000 for charities over the past few years. The Play Barn Project was inspired by his own daughter who has now gone into remission after being diagnosed with leukaemia aged 2, in 2008. Gary was in the army prior to setting up his own personal training/therapy studio in Hertfordshire17 years ago. Not only does he train individuals for marathons and what not, or to keep fit in general, but he trains hard himself for gruelling long distance races. He is one race away from completing the 4 deserts (Racing The Planet) which consists of 4 x 150 mile, self sufficient races on foot. He has come 1st, 2nd and 6th in the 3 races that he has completed and plans to run the Atacama race next year. He also completed Brazil 135 last year, a 135 mile gruelling foot race and was England's captain in Gladiators in 1998. He has unfortunately been held back from doing more races for charity as his daughter was on chemotherapy and in and out of hospital but now that she is in remission, he plans to raise as much as he can for 'The Playbarn Project to help sick children with low immune systems'. He helps motivate others and he is extremely ambitious, kind hearted and a good role model. He is truly inspirational.
