Gary's nomination story

Gary Hutcheon is a Boy's Brigade Captain with the fifteenth company attached to St Mary's Church King Street, Aberdeen. Gary was in the Company as a boy for 11years. The Boys Brigade give boys the opportunity to gain skills in different areas.

After being 11 years in the Company as a boy Gary went to help out as an Officer at the age of eighteen, however the Captain died & Gary took over the running of the Boys Brigade Company. He has now been a Captain for twenty seven years & will have been 30 years with the Boys Brigade on the 1st September. Gary has provided a range of activities for young people to attend rather than wandering the streets. Gary does not get paid for this it is purely voluntary . Gary has raised £500 this year by having a Quiz & Coffee Morning to subsidise Boys Brigade funds.

Gary gives up his Friday evenings to run the BB company & has been doing this for almost 30 years. Gary is providing a place to go for boys to do a range of activities instead of wandering the streets. Gary also does fund raising every year to boost the BB funds.
