Gareth's nomination story

Gareth's an ordinary bloke but an awe-inspiring 'Student Representative' for his colleagues at the University of Glamorgan. He's part of a team of Reps whose role is to raise concerns from students, and he carries out the role with massive enthusiasm, boundless energy, a generous nature and infectious good humour. As well as bringing forward the usual student matters, such as deadlines for work, he has become a champion for charitable projects - he`s organised the collection of hundreds of Christmas gifts for children in local authority care, he`s initiated an immense collection of Easter eggs for cancer sufferers and their carers in the Cynon Valley, and he`s tirelessly arranged guest lectures, visits to the Houses of Parliament, and to local politicians or attractions. He celebrates the efforts of others e.g. surprising a fellow student with a signed Welsh Rugby shirt because he's bravely continued with his studies whilst suffering with cancer. Gareth is an inspirational student; he's enthused the 'average' student reps and made change happen to improve their experiences. He's brightened up the week for staff, and he`s been described as a 'force of nature'. Universities and student groups need more Gareths.
