Gareth Farrow

I would like to recommend Gareth Farrow as an Olympic Torchbearer. Although only 19, he has been regularly coaching at his local canoe club over the past 10 years and been inspirational due to his high level of commitment and performance where he has represented GB and Wales. Along with a rigorous training schedule for his own sport Gareth has obtained high grades through all his academic subjects and as a Lloyds TSB Local Hero visited local schools promoting the benefits of sport. Gareth also risked his own life to save a fellow canoeist from drowning in the local harbour for which he received the Silver Medal from St. John's. Now in University at Cardiff, he continues to promote sport and has received Full Colours at a recent award ceremony. It is Gareth's birthday on 27th May when the torch travels from Cardiff to Aberystwyth, his home town.
