Mohammed's nomination story

I have known Mohammed for more than 20 years and he has been involved with several community and charity groups and roles in that period. Most of that time, he has been on the committee of the Hounslow Pakistan Welfare Association that supports the local community with various issues. Mohammed has helped organise many fund raising, youth and social events with me, e.g. seaside picnics trips in the summer for the poorer members of the community; GCSE & A level revision classes for the children; dinner & music evenings. He also served as the treasurer for 3 years. All of this was on a voluntary basis.

He has also supported the disaster relief efforts in Asia & Africa through organising collections and shipping of food, clothing, blankets, etc. for those areas hardest hit.

Mohammed also supports and coaches local boys football teams in Slough, again on a voluntary basis. He is also a governor at his local school and takes his responsibilities very seriously.

In conclusion, Mohammed has involved himself with many worthwhile causes and given up a great deal of his time to help and support the community over a number of years. I know he would be very honoured to be selected as an Olympic Torchbearer and I support his nomination whole-heartedly.
