Bill's nomination story

Bill has been coaching children to play badminton for over 50 years. He is 85 and still coaching at the University of Hertfordshire. The total number of children that have passed through his sessions must run into the thousands. To many his inspiration has gone far beyond Badminton. Players have publically acknowledged the life skills they gained from their time in his company. Badminton England "Bill has been one of the most influential coaches in the history of English Badminton." University of Hertfordshire, pro-vice Chancellor: " Bill Goode's contribution to badminton was in part a major contribution towards the decision making of the Hertfordshire University's specialist badminton facilities. " These facilities will be used during the Olympics. Gail, Olympic Silver Medallist: For ten years Bill was ersonal coach for Olympic Silver Medallist, Gail, and in her words "Bill was my rock" (Guardian September 05) Bill was coach to his son Andy, who went on to play in the Barcelona Olympics and was Manager of the Olympic Team in Atlanta. Andy subsequently went on to play a major part in coaching his wife Jo to Olympic medal success in Sydney. Bill's commitment to youth sport includes Sailing, Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme, football and swimming. 1061 characters 206 words.
