Frankie Wales

Frankie has been an outstanding servant to the Redcar community. Starting with setting up the Boxing Club which turns out young champions and teaches young people respect, fair play and discipline. He also set up the only womens' boxing club in the county which has gone from strength to strength. He took over the semi derelict hall in which the club meets and attracated all kinds of help to have it renovated. He makes it available to numerous other groups. Since then he has driven the setting up of the Redcar Development Trust which has taken over empty shops and a pub to help people start up new businesses. He has attracted support from organisations such as the Princes Trust, a 'secret millionaire' and numerous other sources. As a man with dyslexia and from one of the toughest parts of town, he leads entirely through his boundless energy and enthusiasm. He would be a very worthy carrier of the Olympic torch.
