Francis Edwards

I want to nominate my 15 year old son, Francis, who has cerebral palsy and is a wheelchair user. Despite complex medical challenges he has been nothing but cheerful since the day he was born. About 6 months ago he announced that he wanted to 'give something back' in recognition of all the help he has been given over the years. After I picked myself up off the floor we sat and talked about what he could do. To cut a long story short he wrote to the Donkey Sanctuary in Leeds, a wonderful place that provides riding lessons for disabled children and asked if he could help out. It was here that Francis had learned to ride, on the advice of his consultant, and in the process learned to sit up unaided, over ten years ago. He goes weekly and volunteers as registrar for the after school club. I am so proud!
