Frances's nomination story

The reason for nominating Frances Rayner to be a torchbearer is because she is an amazing person and a major asset to her local community. Frances Rayner is an active sportswoman and has ran the London Marathon twice and at the moment is training for the Three Peaks Challenge. Both of these ventures were in aid of charities and overall Frances has raised over £10,000 for these charities. Which I think is an amazing sum of money for one person to have raised. At the moment she has taken on the voluntary role as Village Games Sports Coordinator in Downham Market through Active Norfolk. Her role is to inspire people into sport and to support the local community in finding out about sports. She has been to local schools, Brownies and Guide groups to talk to them about sporting opportunities and to encourage active play. Frances has ran a running club at a local school for the last 4 years encouraging kids to get involved and enjoy exercise. She holds an annual Mini Marathon at the school which helps fundraise money for the school. Frances has also been actively involved in the local hockey club for 30 years, 6 of those she was Chair-person. As this was a small village team it didn't have the luxuries as some clubs this involved a lot of fundraising to keep the club going. Frances is a major inspiration to me not only is she a good citizen but also a brilliant wife and a brilliant mother and as a lover of sports I know she will love the opportunity to be a torchbearer.
